Time and a Cheese Stick

Do you ever say things to your kids and then realize how true the statement really is in life?
About a week ago Tatum got a little paper cut.
Her and I were sitting at the table eating lunch and we had this conversation.

Tatum:  Mommy it hurts. Do you think if I eat this cheese stick it will make it better.
Me:       It might.
(She took a bite of the cheese stick and then looked at the cut.)
Tatum:  Nope, it didn't make it feel better.
Me:       Somethings just take time to heal.

As soon as the words were out of my mouth the truth of that statement hit me.
Some things take TIME to heal.
In many many ways the past year has been a healing process for me.
A journey.
And it's taken time.
Time to reflect.
Time to evaluate.
Time to mourn.
Time to ask the hard questions.
Time to let go.
Time to forgive.

As I sat there with Tatum I realized how much time has gone by since the first hurt in this area of my life occurred.
I also realized just how much healing has taken place in my life.
I can tell you the month that things really started to take shape in my life and I knew healing was happening.

What are you healing from?
Are you allowing it to take time?
I wish I could offer you a cheese stick but I'm afraid you'd look at your wound and say, "Nope it didn't make it better."

Oh I could write a book on the topic of exactly what I am going through right now...but I won't. Thanks to you, I'm remembering that I have string cheese in the fridge. Want.
