Today's FALL project!

Today's Fall project . . . Mini Carmel Apples (it's not really caramel it's chocolate)! Recipe/Idea from Family Fun Magazine Sept. 2008.

The lovely sprinkles . . . my kids would put sprinkles on their breakfast if I'd let them!
Oh the mess . . . it was a fun project with a fun mess afterwards! I should have taken a picture of my sprinkled floor!

The finished product . . . we had so many we decided to take some around to neighbors who were home and tell them "Happy Fall"! We wanted to share the chocolate/sugar rush with the entire street! HA!

Simple recipe . . . Use a melon baller to scoop out balls of a green apple. (That was not an easy task, we didn't have perfect circles.) Pat dry the apple (or the chocolate won't stick. Carmel didn't stick for us at all so we had to use chocolate. The recipe calls for butterscotch or peanut butter chips. Dark chocolate tasted great too.) Stick a lollipop stick in the skin part of your apple ball. (The recipe says to cut the end of the stick to make it pointy . . . we did 2 or 3 that way and then skipped that step too. Just shove the stick in.) Then roll the apple in the chocolate and then in sprinkles, coconuts, nuts or whatever you choose. (Every few apples we had to warm the chocolate up a little so it would roll on smooth.) Stick them in mini muffin cup holders and let them sit for awhile. These bite size treats were yummy!!

How fun! I'll have to store that idea away in my brain for when Hunter gets a little bigger. Love all your pics of your family.
